Healthy Homes: Comply By 1 July!

30 May 2025

With the 1 July Healthy Homes compliance deadline just around the corner, our latest reports show that the vast majority of landlords – over 90% – are on track or already fully compliant.

That’s great news and a credit to those who’ve taken the initiative to ensure their tenants live in warm, dry, and healthy homes.

But for the minority still holding out, time is running out. From 1 July, every private rental must meet the Healthy Homes standards at the start of a new tenancy – no grace period, no extensions. Industry experts warn that the enforcement arm of the Tenancy Services team is actively inspecting properties, and failing to comply could result in financial penalties of up to $7,200 per breach. There will be no room for delay or misunderstanding

As we move closer to 1 July 2025, demand for assessments and tradespeople is only going to increase. Whether it’s insulation, ventilation, or heating, the final push now will protect not only your tenants’ wellbeing but also your investment and reputation.

If you're not yet fully compliant, now’s the time to act — after 1 July, you may be prohibited from collecting rent until you meet the Healthy Homes Standards.
