But for the minority still holding out, time is running out. From 1 July, every private rental must meet the Healthy Homes standards at the start of a new tenancy – no grace period, no extensions. Industry experts warn that the enforcement arm of the Tenancy Services team is actively inspecting properties, and failing to comply could result in financial penalties of up to $7,200 per breach.
