Over the past few months, Oxygen has been collecting cat food or biscuits, recycled paper litter, flea treatment, bedding, blankets, bowls for Wainui Whiskers!
Recently, one of our vacating tenants discovered 22 kittens and cats living under a property on Pharazyn Street in Lower Hutt, which was set for demolition due to the upcoming Riverlink Project from the Wellington Regional Council.
The tenant immediately contacted Sonya from Wainui Whiskers, who spent the next 14 days rescuing all the felines.
Sonya's tireless efforts included spending over 60 hours travelling, setting up, checking in, releasing hedgehogs, and taking the kittens home before and after work and during her weekends, all from her own pocket.
Oxygen decided to lend a helping hand and coordinated some assistance by posting on Facebook, which reached 5,200 people. The donations started pouring in, and as a company, we donated $500 to Sonya.
We also added Wainui Whiskers as an option in our latest NPS survey, and this month, 24 tenants and owners chose to donate, resulting in another $120 for Sonya.
We were thrilled to have Sonya drop in on Friday to meet the team and collect the contributions that had been generously donated by our team members, owners, tenants, and the community.
We appreciate Sonya's hard work and dedication to helping these felines, and we are proud to have been able to provide assistance.
